Hylke is 6 years old when we leave and will celebrate his 7^th birthday in Indonesia. School wont be obligatory till after summer 2013, which is one of the reasons why we can make this trip as a family. He has been to Thailand and Malaysia before. He is a good swimmer and is looking forward to swimming pools but even eating roti canai, and BIG argentinian steaks and seeing kangaroos. He would even like to see giraffes but understands that a zoo will have to do in that case. Furthermore he loves to discover new places and observe nature. Hence, a beach with shells, crabs, etc is the ultimate playground for him. Last but not least he has requested one ice-cream a day under our journey.

Aafke will be 5 years old when we leave. She likes to climb, dance and discover. She likes to eat rice and is especially interested in juicy fruit. She is also looking forward to jumping in swimmingpools, roaming the beach and the zoo. She doesn’t have a real preference as to where we go as long as she gets the above and gets to see real kangaroos and koalabears. She has requested that we buy her a nice dress now and then.

Mette will celebrate her third birthday in Argentinia. She is (almost always) a very happy little girl and lightens upp the most situations. Up till now she has liked to fly. Mette is a good eater but as far as she is concerned her diet always contains to much fruit and vegetables and never enough cola and cookies. She couldn’t care less if we travelled to a lokal lake or to Bali as long as she has her brother and sister to play with and her parents around to cuddle up to now and then.

I am Marije and on the day of departure 35 years old. I work as a general practitioner. I still find it unbelieveable at times that we can make this trip as a family. How great is that?! I’m looking forward to discovering and encountering new places through the eyes of our children. I’m curious about all the coming adventures in for us unknown countries. I’m even curious how the children, my husband and I will react to the long flights, neverending busrides, the whining about food that takes to long to arrive or that doesn’t taste as expected. At the same time we’ll have the comforting thought of the next guesthouse and the next fantastic experience just around the corner.

I am Michiel and will be 47 right efter departure. I work as a gastro-enterologist in Örebro. Delay inevitably leads to cancellation and I believe that if you want something, you need to make it happen. Hence this round-the-world trip. I enjoy travelling, good food and good wine. I also like sun, sea, beach, nature and now and then a dive. Cultural matters also have my interest. I love asian cuisine but a BBQ, grilled fish or a steak works almost equally well. I’m most curious about the waterfalls of Iguazu, the Mendoza wines, Salar de Uyuni, Sidney, the Borubudur, the Indonesian food, the beaches of Bali and the beaches of Sri Lanka with wonderful Indian food.
